A Halloween Vacation
San Juan Islands, Washington
October 2005

The San Juan Islands are an island chain located in the Puget Sound just west of Anacortes, Washington. The ferry ride from Anacortes takes approximately 1 1/2 hours. For this trip we decided to stay in Friday Harbor on the largest island in the chain, San Juan Island.

Our first day we couldn't have ordered up more perfect weather and spent the day exploring the island, h iking and taking in the sites.

Coordinating two separate vacations seems like a daunting task, however, that is just what we did with my friends, Jan & Dave. They were on their annual vacation out west from New York and we managed to meet for lunch at Friday Harbor as they were heading across the sound from Vancouver Island to the mainland. After having worked with Jan for 4 years, it was wonderful to finally meet her.

The next day typical Northwest rains began, but that didn't stop us from exploring the historial parts of the island.
